BJP Accuses Congress of Opposing State Development and Failing to Mobilize Support for Municipal Elections

Dehradun: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on Congress, accusing the opposition party of being "state and development-averse" and claiming that its candidates in the ongoing municipal elections are fighting alone. BJP spokesperson Manveer Singh Chauhan, speaking at a press conference, alleged that Congress was mired in corruption and its true nature had been exposed to the public, evident from the struggles of its candidates in the election field.

Chauhan emphasized that while the BJP has been tirelessly working on development issues, it is Congress that has remained stagnant. "We fought and won the state and national elections with the slogan 'Kiya hai, karte hai, aur karegi sirf BJP,'" he stated, adding that the party is now focused on delivering on its promises in the municipal elections as well. He assured that the BJP, with its clean and green agenda, is set to create smart, developed cities and fulfill its commitments across the state.

Chauhan also mocked Congress’s claim of being state movement pioneers. "The youth, women, and every section of society were part of the movement, but Congress only engaged in politics of credit," he said, pointing out that the party had consistently opposed state formation. He accused Congress of undermining the state's progress by halting development decisions, including the premature cancellation of an industrial package given by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

On Congress’s internal strife, Chauhan remarked that while BJP is united with strong leadership and active workers, Congress is plagued by factionalism and a lack of committed cadres. "Congress cannot even find workers at the booth level," he stated, asserting that the public is ready to teach the party a lesson for its failure to meet the expectations of the people. He further stressed that just like at the state and national levels, the people now expect development from their local governments too.

As the municipal elections continue, BJP leaders believe that the party’s development-driven agenda will win the support of the electorate. The party remains confident that it will secure a majority across several urban local bodies, continuing its legacy of progress.
