Mumbai, December 29, 2024:

India is making bold strides in the semiconductor industry with its ambitious $10 billion Semiconductor Mission. Aimed at reducing dependency on imports and boosting domestic production, the initiative has attracted investments from global giants like Intel, TSMC, and Samsung.

The establishment of state-of-the-art semiconductor fabs in Gujarat and Karnataka has been a game-changer. These facilities are expected to produce chips for diverse applications, including smartphones, electric vehicles, and defense systems.

Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the mission's importance, stating, “A robust semiconductor ecosystem is critical for our digital and manufacturing ambitions. India is poised to become a global semiconductor powerhouse in the next decade.”

The mission also focuses on skilling and reskilling the workforce through specialized training programs in collaboration with leading universities. With government incentives and industry collaboration, India aims to be a significant player in the global semiconductor supply chain.
