Varanasi, December 29, 2024:
In a move to blend ancient wisdom with contemporary learning, India is revamping its educational framework to include Sanskrit as a core component. As part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, institutions across the country are introducing courses in Sanskrit, ranging from linguistics to AI applications.
The initiative has led to the establishment of Sanskrit research centers in cities like Varanasi, Ujjain, and Tirupati. These centers aim to digitize ancient manuscripts, decode Vedic mathematical principles, and explore applications of Sanskrit in computational linguistics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the inauguration of the Global Sanskrit Conference in Varanasi, said, “Sanskrit is not just a language; it’s a repository of knowledge that has solutions for today’s challenges. From yoga to environmental conservation, its teachings are timeless.”
With global interest in Indian philosophy and wellness practices, universities worldwide are collaborating with Indian institutions to offer Sanskrit studies. The language is now seen as a bridge between tradition and innovation, contributing to India’s cultural and intellectual renaissance.
