Congress Faces Criticism Over Alleged Double Standards on Constitution and Ambedkar

Dehradun, December 23 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Congress for what it claims are baseless allegations regarding the Constitution and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, asserting that the Congress’s historical stance on both has been contradictory. BJP State Media In-Charge Manveer Singh Chauhan stated that the Congress is now attempting to present itself as a champion of Dalit interests, a narrative he claims the public does not accept.

Chauhan alleged that the Congress is misleading the nation by selectively quoting statements made by Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament. “The Congress is running a misinformation campaign by distorting the Home Minister’s remarks, but the public is well aware of the truth. The minister has clarified his statement, but the Congress is deflecting the real issues to avoid accountability,” Chauhan said.

Congress's Constitutional Amendments Under Scrutiny
Highlighting historical data, Chauhan pointed out that the BJP, during its 16 years in power, made only 17 constitutional amendments, whereas the Congress, in its 60 years, introduced 77 amendments. He further accused the Congress of sidelining Dr. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. “The Congress didn’t even consider Dr. Ambedkar worthy of a ticket and eventually forced him to resign. Despite its claims, Congress’s actions show it has never truly respected Ambedkar’s legacy,” he added.

Chauhan also criticized Congress for prioritizing its own family legacy over honoring Ambedkar. “Congress built countless memorials for members of the Nehru-Gandhi family but failed to establish a single memorial for Dr. Ambedkar during its decades in power,” he said.

Accusations of Hypocrisy
Referring to discussions in Parliament, Chauhan claimed that Congress's opposition to the BJP stems from its discomfort with being held accountable. He alleged that Congress’s behavior in Parliament, including Rahul Gandhi's conduct during the recent session, showcased a disregard for democratic norms. “The Congress claims to champion democracy, but its actions tell a different story. The party’s attitude towards the Constitution, democracy, and reservation policies has exposed its double standards,” he said.

Chauhan concluded by stating that the public is fully aware of Congress's alleged inconsistencies and will deliver an appropriate response at the ballot box.
