Congress Claims Strong Public Support in Dehradun Amid Calls for Change

Dehradun, December 23 – Congress Party’s State General Secretary Naveen Joshi held a press conference today, reflecting on the success of his “Jan Samvad” program, which aimed to engage with the people of Dehradun and address their concerns. Joshi announced that he had personally visited all 100 wards of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation, conducting over 350 meetings with residents.

The primary objective of this initiative, Joshi explained, was to listen to the public’s issues, understand their needs, and outline solutions under Congress’s future agenda. He emphasized that during his visits, residents shared their frustrations over the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s failures and the ongoing problems they face. Joshi assured the public that these concerns would be taken into consideration for the party’s future plans.

“Dialogue with the people is the strength of democracy,” Joshi remarked, highlighting the widespread support he received in all 100 wards. He asserted that this interaction demonstrated that Congress continues to maintain a strong foothold in the hearts of Dehradun’s residents, who, according to him, are eager for change.

He sharply criticized the BJP government, pointing out their failure to honor promises made during elections. Joshi specifically called attention to BJP’s broken promise regarding tax exemptions for newly added wards, accusing the party of betraying the public by imposing taxes despite pledging otherwise. "This is a clear sign of the BJP’s inability to deliver on its electoral promises," he declared.

Joshi expressed confidence that the political climate in the state is shifting in favor of Congress. He claimed that the people are now prepared to respond to the BJP’s false promises and are ready for a change in leadership. Joshi assured the public that should Congress win the mayoral position in Dehradun, the party would prioritize the welfare of slum areas, offering land ownership to residents and focusing on their overall development.

The Congress leader reiterated the party's commitment to ensuring a safe and dignified life for every citizen, pledging that its policies would always prioritize the well-being and rights of the people. The press conference was also attended by party spokesperson Ashish Nautiyal, spokesperson Giriraj Hindwan, and party secretary Twinkle Arora, among others.

Joshi concluded by urging the people of Dehradun to continue their support for Congress, as the party prepares for the upcoming elections with a renewed focus on public needs.
