BJP Strengthens Its Gadhwal Hold Ahead of Civic Elections with High-Profile Inductions

Dehradun, December 26: In a strategic political move ahead of the civic body elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dealt a significant blow to the Congress in the Gadhwal region by welcoming former Srinagar municipal chairman Bipin Maithani into its fold.

In a ceremony at the BJP state headquarters, Maithani, along with other prominent figures, officially joined the party in the presence of state president Mahendra Bhatt and cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat. Notable among the new members were independent candidate Asha Upadhyay, who had narrowly lost the municipal chairperson election, Congress councilor Jagat Negi from Rishikesh, and former Congress candidate Pushkar Bangwal.

State President Mahendra Bhatt extended a warm welcome to the new members, draping them with party scarves and garlands. Addressing the gathering, Bhatt emphasized the growing momentum for the BJP in Uttarakhand. “The steady influx of leaders from other parties signals a clear shift in public sentiment toward the BJP. Together, we must work with unity and determination to break all previous records in the upcoming civic elections,” he said.

Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the party's commitment to strengthening its grassroots presence. He encouraged party members and the new entrants to focus on ensuring BJP’s victory in the 2025 elections as well.

The event witnessed the participation of several senior party officials, including State General Secretary Aditya Kothari, State Vice President Mukesh Koli, Media In-Charge Manveer Chauhan, District President Sushma Rawat, and others, underscoring the BJP’s collective resolve to dominate the upcoming polls.

This development comes as a major setback for Congress in the region, underscoring BJP’s strategy to consolidate its influence in the state through high-profile inductions and grassroots mobilization. With the civic elections on the horizon, the BJP’s calculated moves signal its intent to secure decisive victories across Uttarakhand.
