West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has directed all Raj Bhavan staff in Kolkata to ignore any communication from the state police regarding a recent sexual harassment complaint filed against him by a temporary staffer. The directive prohibits staff, whether permanent or temporary, from making any statements online, offline, or via any other means about the ongoing investigation.
Governor Bose cited Article 361(2) and (3) of the Constitution, which provides immunity to governors from investigation or legal proceedings by state police during their term in office, in his notification.
Despite this, the Kolkata Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues its probe, seeking witnesses and evidence related to the complaint, including CCTV footage from Raj Bhavan premises.
The allegations emerged prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kolkata, where he is staying overnight at Raj Bhavan. A woman claiming to be a temporary staffer at the Peace Room within Raj Bhavan accused Mr. Bose of molestation, leading to the police investigation.
Governor Bose, denying the accusations, released an audio message alleging political motives behind the controversy and cautioned Raj Bhavan staff to beware of potential infiltrators with malicious intent.
