S Jaishankar Responds to Arrests of Three Indians in Hardeep Nijjar Murder Case in Canada

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar commented on the recent arrests of three Indian men charged with the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. Jaishankar stated that India would await further information from Canadian authorities regarding the arrests.

Canadian police charged the three individuals on Friday in connection with Nijjar's murder and are investigating potential links to the Indian government.

Jaishankar acknowledged the news of the arrests and noted that the suspects appeared to have ties to organized crime, particularly from Punjab, India. He emphasized the importance of Canadian authorities sharing information with India regarding the case.

Sanjay Verma, India's high commissioner to Canada, expressed hope for regular updates from Canadian authorities on the matter. He stated that since the issue is internal to Canada, India refrains from making further comments.

The arrested trio, all Indian nationals, were apprehended in Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, aged 45, was fatally shot outside a gurdwara in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver with a significant Sikh population, in June. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously alleged Indian government involvement in the case, leading to tensions between Canada and India.
