Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut unintentionally targeted her BJP colleague Tejasvi Surya instead of opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav during a recent rally. The mix-up occurred due to the similarity in names - Tejashwi and Tejasvi. Ranaut's intended criticism was directed towards Tejashwi Yadav, referring to a recent controversy over one of his videos where he was seen eating fish.
Tejasvi Surya, incorrectly mentioned by Ranaut, is the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Bengaluru South constituency in Karnataka.
In response to the clip of Kangana Ranaut's statement, Tejashwi Yadav humorously questioned, "Ye mohtarma kaun hai?" (Who is this lady?).
Ranaut has been vocal in her criticism of the Congress party since being fielded as the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency. She has targeted Congress leaders Vikramaditya Singh and Rahul Gandhi over dynasty politics, accusing them of focusing on impractical issues rather than development.
The Congress party countered Ranaut's remarks, urging her to verify facts about her own party leaders and questioning her qualifications for receiving a BJP ticket from Mandi.
The Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, where Ranaut is contesting, is scheduled to vote on June 1 in the seventh phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
