Tragedy struck in the Lohegaon area of Pune, Maharashtra, as 11-year-old Shambhu Kalidas Khandve, fondly known as Shaurya, met with a fatal accident while enjoying a game of cricket with his friends during the ongoing summer holidays.
What began as an ordinary day of play turned into a nightmare when Shaurya, in the midst of a friendly match, found himself in the path of an unforeseen disaster. While bowling, Shaurya was unexpectedly struck by a powerful hit from the batter, resulting in the cricket ball hitting him directly in his genitals.
The impact of the blow was immediate and severe, causing Shaurya to collapse in excruciating pain. Despite the swift response of his friends, who rushed to his aid, Shaurya remained unconscious. Concerned bystanders intervened, swiftly transporting him to a nearby hospital in a desperate bid to save him.
Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Shaurya succumbed to his injuries shortly after reaching the hospital, leaving his family and community devastated by the untimely loss.
A case of accidental death has been registered at the Airport Police Station, underscoring the profound shock and sorrow that has gripped the community in the wake of this heartbreaking incident.
