Uttarakhand Kranti Dal Commemorates Indramani Badoni's 100th Birth Anniversary with a Tribute Ceremony

On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of the late Indramani Badoni, a prominent figure in the Uttarakhand statehood movement, the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) organized a tribute event in Dehradun. Party members gathered at the Clock Tower to honor Badoni’s legacy by offering flowers at his statue. The ceremony continued with a heartfelt gathering at the UKD central office, where leaders and activists paid their respects to the leader who played a pivotal role in the state's creation.
Captain Virender Bisht, a close associate of Badoni, shared insights into his life and contributions, emphasizing the importance of following Badoni's path to bring regional parties to prominence in Uttarakhand. Senior activist Latafat Hussain also reflected on Badoni's commitment to the state's cause, describing him as the 'architect' of the Uttarakhand statehood movement.

Indramani Badoni, born in 1925 in Akhodi village, Tehri district, dedicated his life to the betterment of the people of Uttarakhand. Despite his humble beginnings, Badoni excelled in education and became a champion for the preservation of Garhwal's cultural heritage. His advocacy for a separate state for Uttarakhand resonated deeply with the people, and he led various protests, even enduring governmental repression in his pursuit of statehood.

Known for his simplicity and direct communication, Badoni inspired countless people with his unwavering commitment. He was not only a political leader but also a cultural ambassador, showcasing the rich traditions of Uttarakhand through his involvement in local art forms, including dance and music.

The event also recognized Badoni’s involvement in key historical moments, such as his declaration of Gairsain as the capital of Uttarakhand in 1992 and his hunger strike in 1994, which catalyzed public support for the statehood movement.

As the ceremony concluded, it was clear that Indramani Badoni’s legacy continues to shape the region’s political and cultural landscape. His contributions to the formation of Uttarakhand and his dedication to the welfare of its people remain unmatched.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Jai Prakash Upadhyay, Premila Rawat, Colonel Sunil Korthnala, Major Santosh Bhandari, and many others, all of whom paid tribute to the leader’s monumental impact on Uttarakhand.
