Dehradun, November 23, 2024: Accusing the Modi government of enabling the Adani Group's unethical business practices and tarnishing India’s global reputation, Congress workers led by Metropolitan President Dr. Jaswinder Singh Gogi burned an effigy of the government at Ashley Hall Chowk.
Speaking at the event, Congress leaders alleged that the Adani Group is embroiled in a bribery and fraud case in the United States, where the company is accused of paying a $250 million bribe to secure contracts while attempting to cover up the incident. Similarly, in Kenya, the government has accused Adani of employing unfair practices, leading to the cancellation of contracts for airports and railways.
Dr. Gogi stated that the Modi government has repeatedly granted undue favors to the Adani Group, enabling its exponential growth while contributing minimally to job creation in the country. "What kind of business model benefits only a select few, leaving the common man out?" he questioned, further criticizing the group for manipulating the stock market to generate enormous profits.
Highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s consistent efforts to expose this alliance, Dr. Gogi remarked, “For years, Rahul Gandhi has been vocal about Adani's questionable practices and the Modi government’s support for them. However, the government, blinded by power, refuses to take action." He emphasized that this nexus between the government and Adani has become increasingly apparent, harming the interests of investors and ordinary citizens.
The Congress vowed to continue raising this issue both in Parliament and on the streets under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Prominent leaders present at the protest included State General Secretary Mahendra Negi, Naveen Joshi, Rajkumar, Jagdish Dhiman, Devendra Singh, Dr. Pratima Singh, Chunni Lal Dingi, Amardeep Singh, Virendra Singh Panwar, Sandeep Jain, Arun Baluni, Rohit Mittal, Alok Mehta, Lucky Rana, Ganesh Chauhan, and several others. The gathering reflected the party’s determination to fight for public interest against corporate and political collusion.
