"Parliament Security Breach: Inquiry Committee Recreates Crime Scene and Questions Personnel"

Following the December 13 security breach at the Parliament, an inquiry committee led by CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh, appointed by the Union Home Ministry, has taken significant steps to investigate the incident. The committee has recreated the crime scene on three occasions, questioned on-duty security personnel, and requested data from the Parliament Security Service regarding personnel strength.

During their first visit to the Parliament premises on December 15, Singh and the committee instructed security personnel to assume their designated duty spots while simulating the intrusion by two individuals named Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D. The committee members, including IG rank officers from paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, and a JCP-rank officer from the Security Division of Delhi Police, observed the scene and took notes.

On December 16, the IG-rank officers revisited the premises, recreating the incident and further questioning security personnel while inspecting equipment meant for Parliament security. The committee continued these investigative efforts on Monday, maintaining a thorough examination of the breach.

Notably, eight security personnel, previously suspended by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, were not part of the recreation but are expected to provide statements in the upcoming days. The initial probe unveiled a shortage of around 350 personnel in Parliament security, prompting the recruitment of ex-servicemen to address the deficit.

The inquiry committee has requested data from the Parliament Security Service regarding the current personnel strength, including details about the shortage. The Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson confirmed the inquiry, stating that the committee, under Anish Dayal Singh, will identify lapses, recommend actions, and provide suggestions for enhancing Parliament security. The committee is committed to submitting its comprehensive report at the earliest,
