Tragedy Strikes Hyderabad: Seven Migrant Workers Killed in Apartment Wall Collapse Amid Heavy Rain

 In a devastating incident in Greater Hyderabad, seven migrant workers, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives as a wall collapsed at an under-construction apartment on Tuesday night, May 7. The catastrophe occurred in Renuka Yellamma colony located in Bachupally, Medchal Malkajgiri district, amidst heavy rainfall.


The victims, identified as Tirupati Rao (20), Shankar (22), Raju (25), Khushi (25), Ram Yadav (34), Geeta (32), and Himanshu (4), were all construction workers hailing from Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Rescue operations lasted until early Wednesday morning, with the bodies being recovered from the debris.

Following the tragic incident, authorities shifted the deceased to Osmania Hospital for autopsy and initiated an investigation. The calamity struck amidst severe weather conditions, with heavy rain accompanied by strong winds wreaking havoc across Hyderabad and neighboring districts, leading to flooding in low-lying areas and the uprooting of trees.

In a similar occurrence in Medak district, two construction workers lost their lives as a wall collapsed at a poultry farm near Rayulapur village in Kaudipalli mandal. The victims, identified as Subrahmanyam (45) and N Nagu (35), succumbed to the accident.

Additionally, another casualty was reported due to electrocution in Bahdurpura area of Hyderabad, where an individual lost their life after coming into contact with an electric pole, adding to the toll of tragedies caused by the inclement weather conditions.
