AAP MP Accuses Modi of 5G Mega Scam Amidst 2G Spectrum Controversy

AAP MP Sanjay Singh has lashed out at the Centre, alleging a major scam in the 5G spectrum allocation process. Singh's statement comes amidst renewed attention on the 2G spectrum case, which saw the recent acquittal of former Telecom Minister A Raja and others.

Singh's remarks were a sharp rebuke to the BJP, highlighting what he perceived as hypocrisy in their stance on spectrum allocation policies. He pointed out that the BJP had been vocal critics of the 'first come, first served' policy during the 2G spectrum controversy, advocating for auctions instead. The Supreme Court's landmark judgment in 2012, which mandated the auctioning of spectrum licenses, was hailed by the BJP as a victory for transparency and fairness.

However, Singh accused the BJP of a U-turn, alleging that they were now pushing for a similar policy in the 5G spectrum allocation. He criticized the government's approach, asserting that auctioning spectrum licenses would lead to exorbitant prices and benefit only a few large corporations at the expense of smaller players.

The backdrop to Singh's comments is the recent acquittal of A Raja, Kanimozhi, and others by a Special Court in the 2G spectrum allocation case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has challenged the verdict in the Delhi High Court, reigniting debate and scrutiny over the controversial case.

Singh's allegations underscore the political and legal complexities surrounding spectrum allocation in India. As the country prepares for the rollout of 5G technology, the manner in which spectrum licenses are awarded will continue to be a contentious issue, with implications for both the telecom industry and broader governance.
